History of Lifeline Church

Lifeline Church began as a dream of the Rev. Sam Estes Sr. in 1963 under the name St. Luke Cumberland Presbyterian Church.  Following a meeting at the home of Bob and Jeanelle Roberts in the Hallmark Addition of Fort. Worth, Texas in March of 1964, a group of 29 people began meeting as St. Luke Fellowship on June 6, 1964 in the lobby of the Go-Perforator Company on Everman Road.

Rev. Brown C. Welch and Rev. Henry Reeder served as alternating preachers for several months.  In March of 1965, Rev. Sam Estes Sr. agreed to serve as interim pastor.   He was succeeded by Rev. Charles Wallace and our first full-time pastor, Rev. Tom D. Campbell.

After one year of meeting at Go-Perforator we moved to the old Everman Methodist Church building on Enon Road in Everman, Texas.  Property was purchased on Sycamore School Rd. for $6000 and groundbreaking for the first unit took place October 31, 1965.  Albert L. Smith Jr. and Sr. of Parkway Construction Company and other generous sub-contractors helped complete the building of the first unit at a significantly reduced cost.  On Feb 27, 1966 St. Luke Fellowship became St. Luke Cumberland Presbyterian Church with 25 charter members. In 2023, the session voted to change the name to Lifeline Church.

God has been faithful over the past 59 years, and we remain committed to the vision to reach our community for the Lord Jesus Christ.

History of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church

The Cumberland Presbyterian Church was born on the heels of the “Great Revival of 1800” in Dickson, Tennessee. The name Cumberland derives from the geographical area where the church was founded on the Cumberland Plateau. Today there are Cumberland Presbyterian churches throughout the United States, Japan, Hong Kong, Laos, South Korea, Liberia, and throughout South America.

We believe in a “whosoever will” doctrine of faith according to John 3:16.   We believe that Christ came and died for all people, not just the “predestined” or a “chosen” few and that God calls all persons into relationship with Him through Jesus Christ, His only son, by way of God’s Holy Spirit. Simply stated, we are all loved by God, and we all have an equal opportunity to receive the eternal salvation and rich blessings that God freely offers each person who will follow Jesus Christ.
